What exactly is facial mesolifting? What does it involve, what are its benefits, and how is it done?
There’s quite a bit of confusion about facial mesolifting. Many patients come to the consultation with misconceptions based on what they’ve read online. Let me explain. What it really is, what benefits you can expect, and how we do it at Cànons Clinics.
What is facial mesolifting and what benefits does it offer?
A type of mesotherapy
Mesolifting es mesotherapy, but it needs to be clarified.
First, mesotherapy. What is it? It’s a minimally invasive technique in which microinjections are applied to the dermis or hypodermis with active cocktails. At the facial level, it is used to achieve a rejuvenated, revitalized and healthy appearance.
The cocktails used contain vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other bioactive substances such as hyaluronic acid. Together, they nourish and provide several benefits: they stimulate collagen, hydrate, regenerate, etc.
The goal is that the skin looks smoother, firmer, plumper and more radiant. More homogeneous and of higher quality. With fewer imperfections.
Okay. This is the basics.
Over time, two terms have emerged:
-
- Mesolifting or mesolift = lifting effect. Mesotherapy tones, firms, and tightens (“stretches”) to reduce wrinkles, sagging, and redefine facial contours. There are some body applications, but it’s more common for face treatments.
- Mesoglow = glow effect. Mesotherapy brightens and restores vitality to dull, tired, or photo-aged skin. It gives a fresher, firmer, smoother, and healthier appearance.
There are cocktails more suited to mesolifting and others more suited to…mesoglow. Both effects are often achieved: glow from the first session and lift as more sessions are done.
When is it recommended?
Except for specific contraindications (pregnancy, breastfeeding, very specific pathologies, allergy to the active ingredients…), mesolifting is suitable for most patients.
It works particularly well in certain cases. For example:
-
- Young people in their 25-35 years who want to prevent or treat premature signs of aging with a procedure that is as effective and also simple.
- From age 35-40 for a visible lifting effect without surgery. Men and women who wish to define their facial oval, recover firmness and wrinkle reduction with a noticeable but natural result (so that you look better without anyone suspecting a thing).
- In weight loss to prevent the face from becoming sagging. Now that drug therapy for weight loss is booming, this is a good option to firm the skin and prevent it from becoming loose.
- As a treatment for biorevitalizing. It uses active ingredients that also hydrate, regenerate, and improve skin quality. Therefore, it revitalizes very dry, damaged, or dull skin caused by age, sun exposure, stress, lack of sleep, etc.
Keep in mind that we’re talking about aesthetic medicine.
In other words, mesolifting is not a panacea. When used correctly, it yields very satisfactory results, but it may fall short if, for example, when there is sagging skin or very pronounced wrinkles. It depends on the individual needs and does not replace surgery if indicated.
We see all of this in the consultation.
Virtual mesotherapy, mini-facelift, cosmetics… are not the same thing
Let’s clarify what facial mesolifting is NOT, because I’ve seen it all.
On the one hand, it is not the same as virtual mesotherapy.
This is an alternative mesotherapy technique that doesn’t use needles. Instead, micropores are created in the epidermis using electrical conductivity. Simultaneously, topical products are applied so their active ingredients can penetrate the skin through those micropors.
It’s a method less invasive but also less effective and long-lasting than microinjections. If a lifting effect is desired, it could be called mesolifting. However, this term is usually used for injected mesotherapy, not virtual mesotherapy.
On the other hand, it is necessary to distinguish:
-
- “Mesolift” cosmetics. There are serums and creams sold as “mesolift” or as being inspired by this medical-aesthetic treatment. They act superficially and, logically, their effectiveness is much lower.
-
- Surgical facelift.Facial reshaping surgery involves repositioning facial tissues (skin, muscle, fat) to restore firmness and a youthful appearance. It is typically recommended for patients over 45-50 years of age in more severe cases of sagging and drooping skin.
-
- Minilifting. A “minimized” version of the procedure for milder cases or early signs of aging. It involves less scarring, less anesthesia, and a faster recovery, but still requires surgery.
Finally, there is another separate modality which is the Laser-assisted facelift, without surgery. Check out the article I’ll link you if you want to know more.
How is the facial mesolifting treatment performed?
The microinjections. Do they hurt?
From here on I’m speaking from our experience at Cànons Clinics.
When we are asked or we recommend a mesolifting, there are certain doubts or concerns that are usually always in the air.
A very common one is whether the microinjections hurt.
If this worries you, you should know that it is a virtually painless procedure. The needles are very fine (“micro” injections). In addition, we first perform a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the skin and apply anesthetic cream. It’s simple, almost not noticeable.
But I won’t tell you about it, I’ll show you…
In the video, you can see how we apply this treatment to one of our patients. The marks she has are drawn to guide the injections, as they are performed in the affected area, very specific points to optimize the effects.
Notice that she doesn’t grimace in pain and even speaks while I apply the product. There may be slight discomfort (especially if you are sensitive), but it’s very bearable.
It’s not something that prevents people from repeating the experience.

And the cocktail of active ingredients: is it effective?
This is super important. That needs to be explained.
There are dozens of products on the market, but not all of them are of the same quality. What’s more, there have been cases of unqualified practitioners performing mesolifting with formulas that weren’t even intended for mesotherapy. It’s outrageous.
At Cánons Clinics we don’t skimp.
We mainly use Jalupro Super Hydro It is one of the most powerful cocktails available today for facial rejuvenation and deep biorevitalization.
What it does is reinforcing the retention ligaments (the specific points where we infiltrated). These are connective tissue fibers that “support” the face. With age, they lose collagen and weaken, leading to sagging, drooping, and wrinkles.
The formula promotes their structural regeneration so they can regain their supporting function. As if it was a rubber band that had stretched out. This is how we achieve a natural lifting effect, giving a smoother, more defined and youthful appearance.
To achieve this, it contains:
-
- 7 specific amino acids 3 that promote to create collagen (glycine, proline, lysine) and 4 that serve as support (leucine, valine, alanine, arginine).
- Non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid. It’s a special formula that doesn’t fill or add volume. It intensely hydrates and activates fibroblasts to synthesize collagen (and because we also provide amino acids, the effect is even greater).
- 3 biomimetic peptides. They further stimulate collagen and help make the skin smoother and more elastic.
Sometimes we use a protocol called Jalutoxin for a more complete treatment.
We mix the amino acids, hyaluronic acid and neuromodulator. Neuromodulator in small doses. Just enough to improve skin texture, minimizes the appearance of enlarged pores and enhances the anti-wrinkle effect. It does not affect facial mobility or expression.
All these products, when properly indicated and applied, are very effective.
In an article I discussed in detail Jalupro Super Hydro. It’s a guide for professionals, but it will help you understand the treatment better.
Sessions: How many are there and how long do the effects last?
The number of sessions for facial mesolifting is highly variable.
Young, healthy, patient skin that takes care of itself does not need the same things as mature, damaged skin with advanced signs of aging.
A common protocol we follow in our clinic is, for example:
-
- Initial phase of 3 sessions one every 15 days.
- Maintenance of 3 sessions per year following healthy habits.
Do not take it as a guideline. We always adjust it according to the person, and what it requires. We are going to apply the right dosis for your type of skin. No extra dosis if you don’t need it.
Regarding the results, they are not immediate. The effect is progressive one. On the first day, the face already feels much more hydrated and refreshed. After that, it becomes smoother and more toned as the sessions progress. Collagen stimulation is gradual.
It is a visible but natural change, in line with current trends.
Usually it lasts between 2 and 6 months depending on the patient. Age, skin quality, and lifestyle all play a significant role. We recommend a personalized routine with oral supplementation to prolong the effects as much as possible.
Apart from that, we combine it with other treatments to enhance the results. For example, and respecting the necessary time, with radiofrequency.
Risks and side effects: Is it safe?
Facial mesolifting and mesotherapy in general have proven to be a treatment. It is effective and safe if performed by a specialized doctor using good products..
Could there be complications?
Yes, as with any procedure. Infections, for example. But they are rare and usually occur with unqualified professionals who have used poor technique, inadequate aseptic measures, or inappropriate formulas.
And what about side effects? The most common thing after the sessions is that it might be slight redness, bruising, or bleeding, but it is mild and disappears quickly..
It interferes very little or not at all with daily life.
Is facial mesolifting worth it, or is there something better?
There are many facial rejuvenation treatments.
Our patients are very satisfied with the mesolifting treatment. They look younger, more radiant and attractive, which boosts everyone’s confidence.
But for you it may or may not be the most convenient option. This isn’t a simple matter. Perhaps another technique would be better in your case.
We can only know that after an assessment.
If you’re considering it, come to the clinic and tell me about it. Don’t miss out! I’ll show you the results and we can answer any questions you may have.
