The prominent ears is the term used when the ears protrude from the head more than we would like. A new, simple and effective option to correct them is the earFold ™ treatment, in less time and with fewer side effects than traditional surgery.

What is earFold™?

EarFold ™ is an implant that is incorporated with a minimally invasive treatment that, unlike traditional surgery (otoplasty), is performed on an outpatient basis and with local anesthesia.

Can you see the appearance of the ears before placing the earFold ™?

With the use of preFold ™ simulators on the outside of the ear, you can visualize the appearance of them after earFold ™ treatment. In this way, the desired final shape can be customized.
A clinical study has shown a reduction in the prominence of the ears in up to 37% of cases.

What is the earFold ™ implant made of?

Nitinol metal alloy coated with 24-karat gold biocompatible.

How long does it take to introduce the implant?

In most cases, the placement time lasts between 5 and 20 minutes. The process consists of a small incision with local anesthesia, placing the implant under the skin in the exact position and a few points that do not need to be removed.

How is the recovery process?

Most patients can return to their daily routine right away, even on the same day. It is not necessary to wear a bandage on the head since there are only small spots near the incision.

What side effects can you expect?

It is common to experience some swelling and bruising around the incision for up to a week after treatment. Other possible temporary side effects are infection (treated with antibiotics), slight hemorrhage and pain when resting on the ear. An antibiotic regimen may be recommended for a few days to reduce the risk of postoperative wound infection.

Is EarFold ™ permanent or can it be removed?

The implant has been designed as a permanent correction for prominent ears, although it can be extracted easily if necessary. However, if for any reason it has to be extracted, it is a simple procedure.
